: Our third son, Austin James, was diagnosed prenatally with a complex heart condition. We were told that he must have open heart surgery at birth in order to survive, but that most babies with his heart condition are stable at birth and are typically home two weeks post-op.
: The Lord clearly has a different path for Austin. He was born 4/21/04 and struggled at birth. He turned navy blue and had to be intubated. Thankfully, his heart was successfully repaired at 1 week old. However, he has experienced many challenges that have necessitated him being inpatient for three months. He has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, hypothyroidism, brain damage, and seizures. As well, he has been septic several times. Currently he is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia. The doctors are attempting to get his seizures under control.
: We ask for prayers for Austin's TOTAL healing. Jesus, we trust in You! Our heartfelt request is that Austin can soon come home to be with his two older brothers.
: Also, while my husband and I have been blessed with an abundance of grace during this walk to Calvalry, and trust that His grace is always sufficient, we are bending over under the cross lately. May we be granted the fortitude to continue this walk alongside our son.
Dear Susan,
As I read your letter I am reminded of Mary walking the same path as her son Jesus and watching him carry the cross. How heavy her heart was watching her son struggle, fall and bleeding yet, knowing it was all out of her hands. Austin has already touched many lives in his struggle to live and I'm sure that you and your husband in you strength and courage have been a great example to many around you. We, here at Elizabeth Ministry International, will keep Austin and your family in our prayers trusting that God will meet each need as it arises. May you find peace in knowing how much Jesus loves baby Austin and you. In Jesus' love, Carol
